Four years exactly after their sophomore album “Post Tenebras Lux”, which was released to critical acclaim back in 2020, LACOLPA are back with their highly anticipated third release.
“In Absentia Lucis” is titanically heavy and viscerally powerful, capable of channeling both oppression and aggression into an abysmal vortex of negativity and pain.
A pitch-black magma of suffering in music, combining Sludge, Doom and Dissonant Black Metal with some of the most painful soundscapes of improvisational Noise and Drone.
Thematically, this new chapter in the band discography continues to outline LACOLPA‘s philosophy of pain, deeply rooted in the human condition of eternal suffering.
After having explored themes like guilt, awareness of own mortality and the condition of pain which inevitably grips our existence, “In Absentia Lucis” closes the circle by bringing back the reflection on our own condition of impotence.
We are lost in the immense solitude of our Ego, masters of Nothing.

Biography:
LACOLPA is a Blackened Sludge / Experimental Noise band from Alessandria (Italy) that experiments with different stratifications of sonic nightmares. Active since 2014, they have released 3 full length albums as well as a few demos and singles.
Both “Mea Maxima Culpa” (2017) and “Post Tenebras Lux” (2020) were released to critical acclaim and ended up being featured in many album of the year charts by the likes of Cvlt Nation and The Wire Magazine amongst many others.
On December 19th, 2024, Brucia Records will release “In Absentia Lucis”, their highly anticipated third full length album.
