La band Dark/Gothic Metal italiana Nefesh Core presenta oggi, 14 Febbraio 2024, il nuovo singolo “Lullaby” cover del celebre brano dei The Cure.
Il brano segna il debutto alla batteria del nuovo membro della band Andrea Marchese, che sostituisce il dimissionario Ivan Newton.
La band commenta:
Ghigas: “Fieri del legame con la dark wave degli anni 80 che da sempre ci contraddistingue, abbiamo voluto rendere omaggio a questo immortale anthem dei Cure, ed attraverso un fine riarrangiamento e con una visione più orientata al metal, l’abbiamo resa parte integrante del nostro repertorio. Siamo super felici di quello che abbiamo fatto!”
David: “Nel pensare di rivisitare questo meraviglioso storico brano, a me molto caro, mi divertiva soprattutto l’idea di trasformare il cantato sospirato in modo più diretto e orecchiabile, ovviamente sulle mie corde, marcatamente scure e metal; credo di esserci riuscito.”
Andrea: “Personalizzare e suonare uno dei brani che mi ha accompagnato, sin da piccolo, nella crescita di vita mi rende felice ed emozionato!”
Bob: “Spesso citiamo delle canzoni che fanno parte del nostro background e ci divertiamo a ‘nefeshizzarle’. Ma deve accadere la scintilla che dia il via al tutto. La canzone originale verte su un lick di chitarra ritmica sui due accordi principali, l’ho rivisto ed ho creato l’arpeggio a loop che ha dato il via alla nostra versione. Farlo è stato incredibilmente naturale, la canzone ha una forte natura dark, riflessiva e nasconde una rabbia repressa che sale a galla grazie all’interpretazione
di David”.

Nefesh Core: A Dark Fusion of New Wave, Metal, and Melody
Formed in 2018 by Italian music veterans Dave Brown and Stefano “Ghigas” Calvagno (known for their work in white-progressive metal band Metatrone), Nefesh Core brings a unique blend of dark music influences to the scene. Joined by Ivan Newton on drums, they draw inspiration from 80s New Wave and dark music, weaving it with elements of melodic hard rock, classic metal, and 90s gothic metal.
Nefesh Core stands out with Dave Brown handling both vocals and keyboards, creating a cohesive and impactful soundscape.
Their debut album, “Getaway,” embodies this fusion perfectly. Released in 2020 via Rockshots Records, it offers 10 tracks that transport listeners through a spectrum of sonic experiences, balancing dark atmosphere with catchy melodies. Mixed by Luigi Scuderi at Tower Hill Studios and mastered by renowned producer Jacob Hansen (Hansen Studios, Denmark), “Getaway” boasts meticulous production that amplifies the band’s creative vision.
The album’s artwork, crafted by Christian Wallin, further reflects the band’s aesthetic, adding another layer of depth and intrigue to their world.
